Following along with this weeks unintentional diagonal theme, I decided to give it another go only this time instead of doing it freehand I used tape to create the lines. This method was definitely easier but I noticed when I peeled the tape up it left some slight ridges.
For this mani I used OPI Simply Smashing from the Serena Grand Slam Collection and NOPI Brilliant Idea from the Something About Spring Collection. In my mind this combo looked much better then it turned out. I thought the colors being so similar would be a good thing but I'm on the fence about it now.
I used three coats for an opaque finish with Simply Smashing. Alone I'm not sure how much I will use this yellow based golden green (it matches my kitties eyes) but I love the metallic foil finish (much like OPI Wing It & OPI Catch Me in Your Net).
NOPI Brilliant Idea is a glitter with a clear base, micro-glitters, and some medium sized hex pieces. To get this glitter opaque you would need at least four coats but for this mani I used two. I recommend using a base color with this glitter because it really does make removal easier.
Do you think this mani was a fail? Or do you like the use of similar colors? Would you wear these colors?
