Just Dance...

Hello Mani(c) Monday!!  I hope you had a great weekend!!  Today I have another lacquer from OPI NYC Ballet Soft Shades.  When I heard there was going to be a soft lavender jelly/sorbet with this collection...well you know how I feel about purples!!  OPI Care To Danse? does not disappoint!!

Care To Danse? is a lavender toned jelly/sorbet built off a white base.  I used three coats and application was good.  Were you wondering why 'dance' was spelled with a 's'?  I was, so I turned to Google and discovered 'danse' is the french spelling.  Even though most dance terms are french I never knew of that spelling.

For this layering combo I wanted to use something other than a straight up glitter.  I turned to the newly released Target exclusive NOPI Look At Me, Look At Me.  This lacquer is a very dense shimmer made up of silver, pink, and teal.  Application is very good and coverage is excellent!  I only used one coat!  Since the coverage is so opaque I turned this into a candy mani/jelly sandwich by adding one coat of Care to Danse? on top.

  3. Ah, so cool, the effect is amazing! This might be a silly question, but how can you tell if a polish is a jelly? I can see a bit of a difference in the bottle in these pictures, but if I was just browsing for a jelly, I'm not sure I could pinpoint one out.

    1. It's not a silly question at all! There are too ways to tell without using one. The first is to hold the bottle up to the store lights while moving the bottle. If the lacquer appears thin yet still saturated with color you probably have a jelly. Second is sometimes frowned upon but opening the bottle and looking at the consistency of the lacquer as it drips off the brush (make sure it drips back into the bottle). Hope that helps!
