Highlights...

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend here in the U.S.!  It's Pink Wednesday and I was finally able to find Beach Cruiser from the Orly Feel The Vibe Summer collection.  In cased you missed it, you can view the rest of the collection here.

Orly Beach Cruiser is a highlighter pink with a perfectly opaque neon formula.  The best part about this lacquer is you don't need to layer it to achieve what you see in the bottle.  You could almost get away with one coat!!  I used two though to ensure there were no bald spots even though I couldn't see any.  I decided to do a little abstract nail art with Orly After Party, also from this collection.  Have you picked up any shades from this collection?  Are you feeling neon for summer?

Sunshine and Sparkles...

It's a flashback Friday!  One of my favorite collections from last summer was the Zoya Sunshine Collection.   I finally was able to purchase them and now I get to share them with you!  All the colors in this collection have a gold shimmer mixed in them that makes them luminescent!  The formula is consistent and each shade required two coats.

Rica is a golden coral.  Kimmy is a vibrant red, which was impossible to accurately capture with my camera.  Reva is a cool toned berry.  Faye, may possibly be my favorite of the collection since its a warm toned purple.  Tanzy is a true citrus orange shade.  Apple is a yellow based green.

This collection is still available from the Zoya Site.  If you are interested in purchasing Zoya products, you are welcome to use my Zoya Share The Love Link. By clicking on my link and creating a new account, you earn a coupon for a FREE bottle of Zoya Nail Lacquer and if you add two more lacquers to your order you earn FREE shipping!!  The coupon will appear in the "My Coupons/Promos" section of your "My Account" page.  Hope you have a great weekend and see you back here on Monday!

Fresh Limes...

Today's post was inspired by a blog I love, Original Ego By Cecilia.  Her blog features fashion illustrations that she creates.  Recently she posted some nail art illustrations and I wanted to try and recreate one of the designs.  You can view her post and my inspiration HERE.

To create this mani I started with two coats of NOPI Ladies In The Limelight.  Next I made some half moon shapes and polka dots with OPI Alpine Snow.  To finish the limes I used my dotting tool and Orly Fresh.  It's not perfect because I didn't use tape or any guides but I think it turned out well.  Would you be willing to try something like this?

Bright Lights...

I'm not feeling so spectacular on this Mani(c) Monday so I wanted to share with you some blinding shades from the Orly Feel The Vibe Summer collection.  I only purchased half of this collection.  I intended to get Beach Crusier, a highlighter neon pink, but I couldn't track it down!!

First is Orly After Party, a black lacquer with pink and blue shimmer.  It looks amazing and even though it appears gritty in my photo, it really isn't.  Two coats were all that were needed.  Second is Glowstick, a highlighter yellow with a slight green tint.  This lacquer is amazingly bright in person and I think it wins for the brightest in my collection.  The formula, for a neon, isn't too bad but I did need four thin coats to reach opacity.  Third is Melt Your Popsicle, a highlighter orange neon.  The formula on this blinding shade is amazing, smooth, and opaque in three coats.

Bonus!!  I wore this Orly Kaviar mani for a Cinco De Mayo party.  In order I used:   Purple Crush, Melt Your Popsicle, Glowstick, and Fresh.  On my thumb, not pictured, was Orly Snowcone.

Into The Dark...

I have some exciting news...The Lacquer Factor now has its own domain!!  I don't know why I didn't do this sooner!  This really won't affect anyone as the old address will work just the same.  The news doesn't stop there though, you may have already noticed but I also got a twitter and hello cotton account!! Check them out, if you haven't yet.

Today I have the majority of the Dark Shadows Collection from Orly.  I say majority because I didn't pick up Grave Mistake, a dark red creme.  Nor did I pick up Decades of Dysfunction because it's an exact dupe of Pure Porcelain, which I already had.

First is Mysterious Curse which is a re-release of Royal Velvet, a dark purple blue with shimmer.  Second is Buried Alive, a brown shimmer.  No dupe here!  Third is Pure Porcelain which was re-released for the Dark Shadows Collection under the name Decades of DysfunctionPure Porcelain is a pink tinted off white.  Two coats were used for all.  Application was good but Mysterious Curse was a tad thick.

Royal In The Middle...

A quick Wednesday post for you.  I had a tiny mishap with my pointer fingernail and had to take them all down to nubs.  So, what better time to show you something murky but still perfect for spring?

butter LONDON No More Waity, Katie, is a gray based soft purple with lilac glitter.  Application is a bit tricky but it builds up nicely in three coats.  It also dries a little gritty but that's easily fixed with one coat of Seche Vite.  This lacquer was released to commemorate the royal wedding of 2011 and is still available.  Have you tried butter LONDON

Turn Up The Contrast...

A little nail art for your Mani(c) Monday!!  It's been a while since I last posted any nail art.  I like to free hand nail art but I don't think I'm that good at it...please be kind.  I started with a base of Orly Pure Porcelain, an pink tinted off white.  Orly recently re-released this color for the Dark Shadows Collection under the name Decades of Dysfunction.  Application is good for a white shade!  Two streak free coats were used.

I wanted to use super bright contrasting colors for the art so I chose Orly Charged Up (pictured), Purple Crush, and FreshOrly really seems to do neon well!  Application for this purpose was good since the formula on these shades aren't too thin.  One coat was used.
